Craft Show

I will be doing my first craft show in a week, and I am excited. It is right in my home town practically right across the street from my house! I have to walk a grand total of like 50 yards to get there. I am hoping for a great turn out and lots of sales!

Hope you all have a great Memorial Day Weekend, and don't forget to thank the service men and women who risk their lives everyday be they soldiers, police officers, or any other branch of public service!

Heart of Gold...

While working with my polymer clay yesterday, I came up with a new series of items for my shop. It is the "Heart of Gold" series. I've got about seven pieces ready so far, and am planning to make more in other mediums as well. The idea came while I was working with the gold clay and I realized that Mother's Day is right around the corner and the phrase "Heart of gold" is commonly used to describe mothers, grandmothers, aunts, etc. So I created seven gold hearts so far in polymer clay and am hoping to make some with wire and beads as well. I am not sure how long the series will be but it will be at least 15ish pieces before it is done. I've got to finish photographing them and get them up in my shop, but that won't be for a couple days at least.

Something new...

Well, I am still lacking in inspiration a bit, but I am going to be working on something new. I already cross-stitch, and now I have decided I am going to take it in another direction and see what happens. I am going to be working on a beaded needlepoint. I have no pattern, so I will be making this one up as I go.

I have a hoop set up with white cotton as my canvas and am now working out ideas for what to do.

Needing inspiration...

As an artist, I am sure I am not the only one who sometimes feels uninspired. I've been very uninspired as of late and am unsure why. Normally my inspirations come from music, movies, books, nature, etc but lately nothing seems to do the trick. I've hardly done anything related to my crafty things in the last 2 weeks.

I think I've made like 2 pairs of earrings and I just started a necklace last night that is 3 strands of 2.5 mm silver rolo chain. I am not sure as of yet what I am going to do with it, I am thinking amethyst purple on the longest chain, black and white on the middle chain, and emerald green on the shortest chain, but at this point nothing is set in stone...

Anyone have any good ideas for inspiration, or anything they do that inspires them?

Necklace using premade chain

I finished the necklace using the pre-made chain I mentioned in my last posting. It is beautiful. The colors look fantastic and I love the way it wears! The picture does not do it justice! It is much more beautiful in person! The necklace is inspired by Air, Fire, Water, Earth, and Spirit. Each color represents those things. Yellow for Air, Red for Fire, Blue for Water, Green for Earth, and Purple for Spirit. The Star at the top of the 3 strands is there to add to the elemental beauty. The toggle is a larger star and crescent moon. Hope you all are having a good productive week so far!

Until Next time, craft happy!

Working on some new things!

I've been working this past weekend on some new earrings using a technique that is entirely new to me. I've been working on wire wrapping and have made 2 gorgeous pairs of earrings so far using the technique. Both pairs are beautiful, and one pair went to my giveaway winner. I sincerely hope she likes them!

Right now I am working with something else that is totally new to me as well. Pre-made 2.5 mm silver jewelry chain. I am not sure of names but from what I read it looks like Figaro chain. I am hoping to make a necklace inspired by Air, Fire, Water, Earth, and Spirit. I will update you all on the process as it goes along.

Hope you are all having a good Monday and have a wonderful week!

And the winner of the 50 Fan Giveaway is...

Drum roll please! Edwardsbella214 is the winner! Random.org picked the number 3 out of 14 entries my own comment (the 3rd one down on the original giveaway post) doesn't count so I did not add it into the total number of entries, so I went to the next person.

Congrats to Edwardsbella214! Stay tuned for my 100 Fan Giveaway when we get to that point!

50 FAN GIVEAWAY!

Ok! I reached 50 fans on my Facebook Fanpage sometime between last night and this morning, and to celebrate, I going to giveaway a pair of earrings. They can be from my shop or a custom made pair. The choice of findings is gold plated or stainless steel hypoallergenic. Both earring findings are ear wires, not post earrings. If you choose a custom pair, I will make a pair to your specifications, i.e. colors, beads, length, finding choice from what I have instock now.

My shop can be found at http://sofarastarfyre.etsy.com

To enter, simply become a fan on my Facebook Fanpage (if you aren't already that is) and then leave a comment here on this posting and I will use random.org to select a winner from the number of comments given. Multiple comments won't increase your chances of winning, as I will count your first post as your entry. This giveaway will end on Friday 3/19 at 12pm (noon) EST.

Totally new to this!

Ok, So I have decided to start blogging about my handmade items. I try to sell them on Etsy, though so far unsuccessfully. I've been creating handmade items for what seems like forever (since I was a young girl, and I am now 30 lol). Right now I mostly make jewelry, and work with polymer clay although I do do a bit of cross-stitch, sewing, etc.

Ok... Time to cut it short here. I have to get some things done around the house even though I'd so much rather be creating!
